Active Ginkgo Ingredients
The standardized ginkgo biloba extract is prepared from dried ginkgo
biloba leaves by a multistep extraction procedure and is usually concentrated for 50 times.
This means that 50 grams of dried ginkgo leaves ends up with only 1 gram of extract.
The extraction procedure serves to preserve the active ingredients and meanwhile to get rid of
other useless and even harmful ingredients. The standardized ginkgo biloba extract contains two fractions of active components,
ginkgo-flavone glycosides and terpene lactones, which constitute about 24% and 6% of the extract respectively.
The ginkgo-flavone glycosides fraction consists of quercetin, kaempferol, and isorhamnetin
whereas the terpene lactones fraction consists of ginkgolides A, B, C, J and bilobalide.
Contribution of each individual active ingredient to the action of the standardized ginkgo biloba
extract as a whole is not quite clear. However, ginkgo-flavone glycosides seem to be free radical
scavengers and may contribute to the antioxidant properties of ginkgo biloba. Ginkgolides
are potent antagonists of platelet activating factor (PAF).

"Thank you once again for bringing such a
high quality yet affordable product to market. I have taken
Gingko Biloba made by others, and after taking yours, I honestly
wonder if there was any active ingredient in them all! With your product, I have
actually seen and felt a difference! Keep up the good work!"
